I have a friend who lives south of Pittsburgh, PA and would like to ride with an ANRC Instructor. Does you know anyone from that area?

chispas,
We have no instructors in Tucson that I know of, but there is one person who bought a copy of Paul Cronin's book, so she must be interested in forward riding, and you might want to contact her Her name is Donna Miller, phone 530-440-6057 and email donnamiller1@cox.net.
Good luck,
Marion Lee, ANRC Secretary

Susan,
Sorry to take so long getting back to you. ANRC sponsors its own Intercollegiate nationals competition, and schools may also sponsor Invitationals and Equitrials using the ANRC format. Let me know your friend's address, and I will send her some information. Also if you email me at marionhlee@att.net, you will get a faster response than through our GuestBook.

I was so happy to find your website, and Imust say that I'm delighted with the American System of Forward Riding DVDs, and of course Paul Cronin's excellent book. I learned the Forward Seat back in the 60's, from a Fort Riley graduate & a student of Jane Marshall Dillon, and I have been so glad to see this system coming back into prominence, as I think it's most beneficial for the horses. And thanks for using my book, "Horse Gaits, Balance & Movement," on your reading list!
A good friend & student of mine teaches a local college riding program, and she is interested in developing an ANRC program instead of the Intercollegiate competitions that are more prevalent in this area. Any advice you might have for her would be most welcome.
Thank you!
Susan Harris

I hae a problem--maybe someone can help. When I post the trot, my lower legs swing. They are stabel in position when I rise, but when I sit, they swing backwards. My instructor suggested that I was gripping with my knees, but I don't think I am. I tried opening my knees to see if that helped-it did, but it was an awkward leg position and difficult to hold. I appreciate any help anyone can give me. If you want to email me--bowtoyourpartner@yahoo.com

Thank you so much for answering my questions via email. And for sending the Clinic and certification Center Handbook - it is a very helpful publication!

We own and run a stable, teaching about 60 students constantly. We've been doing this for 8 years, and now that we have some students who own their own horses and ride more than once/week. I am thinking about adding anrc principles and methods to my teaching, and having our barn become a member of ANRC. But we are wondering if the equitrials were open to all ANRC members, or only member colleges, and if it would be possible that if our facility met the requirements, to host clinics, certifications, etc.

To PKB,
The best person that I can suggest who used this method and if fairly near you is Susan Deal who is located in Culpeper, Virgnia. she does a lot with young horses and would be terrific. Her email address is located on the list of ANRC Executive members under about the ANRC.

to ladlrich, I think that the ANRC system because of it's progressive nature in the development of both the horse and the rider would be perfect in your program. It is the foundation of the teaching programs at Sweet Briar, St. Andrews Presbyterian College, and Virginia Intermont just to name a few. I will continue to try to connect with you by phone but for some reason the number wouldn't ring through yesterday.

Hi, I am an instructor in the Equine Science Dept at Santa Rosa Junior College. You can currently obtain both an Associates Degree in Equine Science as well as an Equine Science Certificate at our school. Although our curriculum includes many fine classes relating to the field of equine science, our actual hands on riding program could benefit from the structure ANRC seems to offer. Do you have information on how best to incorporate this type of riding program into an existing program. I am also interested in finding out more about creating a collegiate riding team at our school. We are a two-year community college in Northern California with a strong equine science program. We are currently in the process of building a new equine facility complete with both indoor and outdoor riding arenas. thank you

Anyone can do this program - it is basically a homestudy program and if you want to be evaluated you can videotape yourself doing the various skills and submit them to any ANRC evaluator for comment. If you need more specifics, please feel free to call me at 434-381-6347. Shelby

To JM Orsmond, your DVD's are on the way and I am checking with other board members to see if they know of an instructor in your area. I'll get back to you.
