ANRC Equitrials
ANRC EQUITRIALS
Purpose
The purpose of the Equitrial competition is to promote effective riding and schooling in a format where riders may receive awards as well as an individual evaluation for their performance. An Equitrial is a fun one day competition that consists of two or three phases or classes on several levels. The Equitrial is judged on hunt seat equitation and hunter performance, emphasizing a cooperative effort between horse and rider. Riders will be evaluated on position, control, and performance based on the criteria for each level.
Competition/Certification
A rider may elect to obtain a certification through participation in an Equitrial competition by:
· Entering at the appropriate level with the intention of being judged for a certification.
· Reviewing the specific criteria for the chosen level.
· Successfully fulfilling the criteria for the chosen level as decided by an ANRC National, Recorded or Guest judge.
Competition Guidelines
The Equitrial competition may be offered at three different levels: Levels One, Two
and Three, following the specific criteria for each level.
· Riders may choose to compete at any level, but they should indicate the level on their entry blank if they have achieved any previous ANRC certifications levels.
· The site coordinator may choose to offer a restricted section at any level that is open only to riders who have not yet achieved that certification level or to those riders who have not yet achieved a certification level higher than the one in which they are competing. Either of these options is available if the entries warrant and if the site coordinator feels it is necessary to keep the competition fair.
· An open section at each level may be made available for riders of a higher skill level who may be schooling a young horse or coming back after a long absence.
· If Level Three is offered as a two phase, the competition will not qualify the rider for a certification, as it is necessary to compete in all three phases to achieve a Level Three certification.
Scoring
Three Phase Competition
· Program Ride will count 40%, Hunter Trial Equitation 30%, Stadium Equitation 30%
· The program ride for Level Three has a maximum possible score of 250 points. Multiply the rider's total score by .16. This converts the score to the necessary 40% out of 100 for the rider's score in this phase. (250 x .16 = 40%.) If you are using two judges, average the scores given by both judges and then multiply by .16 to get one score. Score each judge's results separately if you want to pin the results as two separate competitions.
· Each jumping phase is worth a maximum of 100 points. Multiply the score each rider receives in each of those phases by .30 to get the total score for that jumping phase.
· Finally, add the three scores, one from the program ride and two from jumping, to get the riders total percentage score out of 100.
Two Phase Competition
· Each phase will count 50%: Program Ride and Jumping Phase.
· The program rides for Level One and Two have a maximum possible score of 250. Multiply the score by .20 to convert it to 50% of the total score. (250 x .20 = 50%)
· The jumping phase is worth a maximum or 100 points. Multiply the score by .50 to convert it to 50% of the total score.
